Sallyanne Burnap,
Counsellor/psychotherapist
By taking the time to stop and read this and deciding to seek counselling you have taken the first step to facilitate change. Maybe the idea of talking to a stranger makes you feel anxious and nervous, wondering what to expect from counselling and asking how it will help? One of the most important aspects in the counselling work is the strength of the relationship between you and me. I recognise and respect your commitment to your journey and promise that during our sessions I will be by your side and together we can face these worries and step by step you will find the tools to reconnect with yourself and experience the power of being heard and understood.
I specialise in supporting carers and support staff who are often the unsung heroes and who may feel that if they stopped and took time for themselves, they would not have the energy to start up again. Counselling can offer you the environment to reset and process your emotions.

Alan Newton,
Counsellor/psychotherapist
In the intricate tapestry of my life, compassion, creativity, and resilience have artfully woven together, shaping the person-centred counsellor you see today. My journey is a testament to the transformative power of lived experiences, a passion for helping others, and an unwavering belief in human potential for growth. As a counsellor and psychotherapist, I've dedicated my life to supporting individuals grappling with an array of challenges, from anxiety and depression to the depths of trauma.
Born into a family that faced adversity, I was exposed early to the profound impacts of mental health struggles. These experiences ignited a desire to understand, empathize with, and help others navigate their own challenges. My personal journey, laden with trials, became a source of profound empathy and resilience—qualities I later integrated into my counselling practice.
My formal education in counselling equipped me with the knowledge and tools to embark on a compassionate journey. It enabled deep empathy for those facing emotional and psychological difficulties. During this time, I uncovered the profound impact of unconditional positive regard, a cornerstone of person-centred counselling.
As I embraced the role of counsellor, I encountered clients from diverse backgrounds, each carrying their unique burdens, from anxiety and depression to trauma. Our work validated their stories, facilitating a shared exploration of their pain and, ultimately, fostering a recognition of their resilience.
One of my distinct strengths is infusing creativity into my practice. I firmly believe that creativity opens pathways to healing and growth. Whether through art, storytelling, or mindfulness, I encourage clients to explore their inner worlds, fostering self-expression and empowering them to discover their resources and resilience.
I view therapy as a dynamic journey of self-discovery and growth, closely collaborating with clients, exploring possibilities, navigating challenges, and tapping into their strengths. Together, we create a secure, nurturing space where clients find their voice, rebuild self-worth, and embark on their unique path to their best life.
My journey as a person-centred counsellor underscores the transformative power of compassion, creativity, and resilience. I'm committed to this lifelong calling, continuously learning, growing, and evolving alongside my clients, aiding them in discovering boundless possibilities, and rekindling hope, empowerment, and transformation.
